Name: Shizuka Ueda
Age: 13
Gender: Female
PB: Rei Ayanami (Neon Genesis Evangelion)
Appearance: A bit on the pale-skinned side because she spends more time in the books and doesn't agree with the sun that well, Shizuka is a thin, almost wispy young girl with short-cropped blue hair and striking red eyes. When out in the sunlight, she wears sunglasses to shield her sensitive eyes from the light, and under most circumstances can be seen in either the school uniform or fairly prim and proper blouse and skirt combinations that don't show a lot of unnecessary skin. Her gaze is intense, on the verge of unsettling at times. She tends to storm from place to place, rather than walking leisurely, and there's always a certain animation to her posture, as if she's on the verge of doing something, anything. She's not especially good at sitting still unless she's in class.
Archetype: Know-it-All, Little Miss Snarker, Plucky Girl, Conveniently Orphaned
Personality: Shizuka is a bit of a cynic and thinks she's infinitely more mature than just about anyone in her class. She's certainly convinced that she knows more about pokemon than everyone, and has absolutely no trouble sharing this opinion if there's an argument about something. A bit of a nosy sort, she's prone to sticking herself in where she's not necessarily wanted and to step in where she's not needed. Not quite overtly bossy, she is nevertheless a person who likes to be seen, and likes for people to pay attention to her opinions, because they're the ones that matter in a situation (even when they really, really don't.). She firmly believes that she knows best how to take care of herself, as she's been partially doing it for the last few years since her parents' death, and it can be hard to convince her otherwise.
She's an obsessive student, a bit of a teacher's pet and the sort who is always carrying around a field camera and observation manual to supplement her pokedex. Fascinated with other pokemon chroniclers that she's read about, she's focused on gathering as much information about pokemon themselves as she possibly can. When she grows up, as much as she'd love to be a champion in some far-flung and exotic region (and is convinced she obviously can be), she wants to write a book about the unique features of some largely forgotten pokemon. Pokemon archaeology, chronicling and study are all fascinating to her, and she abounds with curiosity, to the point of nauseating detail at times when dealing with others who may or may not share her enthusiasm. When it comes to people, though, she's not actually that great at making friends, as she's used to associating with them in class and rarely brings people home to play. Part of this, though, stems from the fact that with all of the disappearances and her own parents' death and uncle's physical distance, she's just used to living alone and doesn't like the idea of someone else disappearing on her when she's gotten close.
Background/History: Shizuka's parents died a few years ago, and she's been raised by her uncle Hideo Ueda since the age of nine. The two are pretty distant, and she rarely sees him, as he is frequently caught up in the midst of his research and leaves her largely to her own devices, having left her a pokemon at a young age as a helper and protector of sorts. Her family is a family of pokemon archaeologists and researchers originally from Kalos, and her parents' death was a simple accident, caught in an unexpected cave-in in the mountains. Shizuka has a bit of claustrophobia because of this and no love for caves or bat-type pokemon that live in them.
She is, despite her attitude, legitimately self-reliant and skilled in cooking, cleaning and most of the basic necessities of life. Very studious, she is about as well read as one comes on the fossil pokemon as a kid her age can be. She has some experience with camping, having done so with her parents and even uncle on some of their digs. Despite this, she isn't necessarily in outstanding health, as she was born albino and prolonged exposure to the sun can make her very tired and give her headaches, causing her to prefer to be indoors more than out, though you won't ever hear her complain about it.
Pokemon:
Shizuka likes to show off her knowledge of pokemon and to surprise people with it, making her feel superior to others. So, she's always on the lookout for pokemon that are particularly unique in terms of either their abilities or typing, ones who will have unexpected tricks that can enable them to take someone else by surprise. If the pokemon is atypical on some level, and particularly if it's the sort that might surprise someone with just how dangerous it is, or be underestimated, that's the type that she loves, as every single one of them gives her one more chance to spout off a lecture on what X ability does in combat when they look shocked. It's really, kind of irritating at times.
She is quite affectionate towards her unusual little friends, and treats them both kindly and with a considerable amount of nurturing. She is always looking for ways to unlock the 'hidden potential' in a pokemon, so that she can show the world what the under-appreciated pokemon are like.
Pokemon: Amaura
Name: Peanut
Personality: Her Amaura is a Modest natured, quiet one that tends to wait very close to her, curiously watching the world around it. It doesn't pick fights, but accepts commands very easily and is extremely protective of its trainer. The little thing's got a particularly strong sweet tooth, apparently, and reacts very well to dry and sweet treats.
Met: When her parents died, she was left this fossil as a gift to remember them by. Her uncle, seeing her depressed, offered her the chance to wake the pokemon inside up, and the two have been inseparable since.
Pokemon: Chespin
Name: Gutsy
Personality: An Impish Natured chespin, Gutsy has far more tricksome bones in his body than is good for just about anyone. He's always looking for chances to play pranks, and though he obeys orders in battles, it can sometimes be a rather near thing, as he was originally her uncle's pokemon.
Met: Around the time that she was able to awaken Peanut, her uncle took pity on her situation and brought her into the home. Because he was frequently away on business, he gave her a young pokemon in his care and training that he didn't have time to tame properly as a protector.
Legendary reserve: Uxie

Sample RP post:
[Shizuka frowned as the people stood around the display, gawking at the poor thing. Murmurs of 'useless' and 'why would anyone want one of these?' could be heard going on everywhere, and it was getting the young girl's hackles up. She hadn't even seen what was in the display case yet, but the attitude always got on her nerves. It showed a lack of vision, and someone who just didn't have the imagination to see the possibilities.
When she muscled through, she saw it. It was an exotic fish tank set aside in the local pet store. The sign read 'Rare Shiny Alolan Pokemon! Pyukumuku.' The little thing stared back at her blankly, it's green body and yellow spikes sticking out of it as it made a garbled sound in the water and waddled a little around, doing apparently nothing. One of the people right behind her 'huffed' and started arguing with the price for the strange pokemon, muttering that it didn't look good for anything, and she'd finally had it.]
I'll have you know that that pokemon isn't useless at all! [She stamped her foot down, glaring up at the shocked adult.] I've read all about them, and they can poison even poison types! They're very dangerous pokemon.
[Murgle murgle, was the reply from in the tank. The thing was just quietly eating at some vegetative matter. The adult looked down at her, holding out a finger and clearly about to scold her.]
Oh, don't you look down at me. I bet you didn't even know it could learn Soak. Not man pokemon know that move. If you don't think it's any good, well why do you want to buy it?
[That finally got the adult to huff again and glare at her. “Well, then why don't you?”]
Uh, well... Hmmm. [She rifled through her wallet before firmly planting her feet.] I will, once I beat you in a pokemon battle! [Most. Brilliant. Plan. Ever. Clearly.]
